Social Studies - If I were Prime Minister for a day....

Now coming to the question about me being the PM for a day. This is really tricky as there are a lot of things that have to be improved. Also, the task of leading a nation with such a wonderful economy and resources is really challenging. So I would first like to thank all the previous PMs and our present PMs for their work because of which our nation is a global power today.

If I were to be Prime Minister for a day I would first start a rework of the justice system and make it more consistent for example, murder = life, terrorist = life, etc, and if human rights people don't like that well what about the human rights taken from people they killed? I would then pass a law that any person that had left to join a terrorist Organisation will lose their British citizenship or be banned from the country.

I recognize that Covid-19 has created conditions where there is probably a need for higher taxes but I don't think that the economy will be in a position to withstand higher taxes for some years. Yet the demand for services will continue for some time. I, therefore, suggest that the government should allow borrowing to continue to expand in the short term, taking advantage of low-interest rates to issue bonds that enable repayment over a long period.

I would do the research on the laws that are existing but not in implementation due to corruption. Maybe the new laws/fine for managing cleanliness in public, traffic rules, and other matters that are least concerned. Rightly implemented and regular checks and imposing fines on every guilty person (be it average person or some big celebrity, or celebrities children, Ministers, minister’s children, etc), so that people can too contribute in becoming responsible for their environment and rules. People will respect the rules and the laws only again if there is no corruption and taking bribes from people and leaving the guilty persons.

Social Studies - Survivor game

During the first and second periods, my class and I had social studies. We were told by the teacher to get into groups of three or four. In my group were Marie, Kalo and I. We had to do four different things to draw and also to write about. We were told to draw what our island would look like if we were deserted. Marie drew a cool island with palm trees, tents, a sea with creatures and also a fishing net, etc... Then we wrote down all our roles on who does what. Our next task was that we were told that there were others on the island too, so we negotiated and made an agreement. Then our final task was how are we going to react if there were pirates approaching our amazing island.

I think my group and I did really well presenting our migration group.

Dear Diary....

Greetings, my name is Chen and I have migrated from China to New Zealand in the early 1990s. I love living in China because of our language and our hidden history. I came to New Zealand because the Chinese made it hard for me by charging economic penalties, also because it is a better environment here in New Zealand rather than in China. When I heard amazing facts about New Zealand and its animals and land, I for sure wanted to experience what it's like living in New Zealand. Although we people from China have animals, we don't have animals like here in New Zealand; Kea, Tuatara, Kakapo, etc. Whereas, in China, we have Giant Panda's, Golden Snub-Nosed Monkey's, Pallas cat, etc. Which are great animals too, but I want to explore and learn about some other animals. Another reason why I came to New Zealand is that I'd love to learn English and learn about New Zealand and its history. Some obstacle courses for me were; I had to say my goodbyes to my family, here in New Zealand their law is different to China's, the school system is different, and also I had to save up lots of money to meet the migration rules.

Social Studies - Understanding Migration Theories

Celebrating 70th Anniversary of Thor Heyerdahl's Kon-Tiki Expedition - A First Class Sailing Blog

 Social Studies :

Today in social studies our task was to understand migration theories. We had to understand the different Polynesian migration theories. There is a guy that goes by the name of Thor Heyerdahl who believes that Maoris originally came from South America. He is the man who built a raft called the Kon Tiki.

Map of Asia with Names (teacher made)

HawaikiSome Maoris believed that they came from a place called Hawaiki.

Others believe that they came from Asia. They had evidence to their theory, one of them being that their language is a lot similar throughout the Pacific.

Some Maoris believe that they came from a place called Hawaiki. There are distinct similarities between Maori languages and culture and others of Polynesia including the Cook Island, Hawai, and Tahiti.
