Food Tech - Mac and Cheese

T
oday in food tech, my fellow friend and I made Mac and Cheese with help from Miss Ferguson and Mrs Heka. Before we started we put our bags away and got an apron, and also washed our hands. The first thing we did was, we got the macaroni and put in a pot with water just above it. Then we let that cook. While that was cooking we melted the butter into a saucepan, then we removed it from the heat and mixed in the flour until it smoothed. When we finished mixing the butter with the flour, we returned it to the heat and cooked, stirring until the mixture was frothy. Remove it from the heat and mix in a little milk at a time, stirring after each addition to smooth. Then we return to the heat and cook until the sauce boils and thickens. Mix in the salt and cheese. The last thing we did was, we drained the pasta, shaking the macaroni to remove as much water as possible. Then we dished it out evenly amongst the two of us in a serving dish and let it grill until lightly golden.

Here is what Mac and Cheese looks like.

Food Tech - Vegetarian Nachos

Today in food tech, my class and I made vegetarian nachos.

Ingredients :

1/2 red onion (finely chopped)

1 red capsicum (finely chopped)

200 g cherry tomato (chopped)

1/4 cup canned corn (drained)

400 g canned kidney beans (drained)

1 cup Grated Cheese

1/2 avocado (chopped)

175 g corn chip

sour cream (*to serve)

Method :

Preheat the oven.

To make the salsa, place the chopped onion, capsicum and cherry tomatoes into a large bowl. Add the drained kidney beans and corn. Season with salt and pepper, then mix well to combine all ingredients.

Place the corn chips into the base of 4-6 single-server ovenproof tins or dishes and top with the fresh salsa you’ve just created. Then sprinkle the Bega Farmers’ Tasty Cheese over the top.

Place in the oven for 5 minutes or until the cheese has melted.

Carefully remove the nachos from the oven, then top with the avocado before serving. Add a dollop of sour cream to taste.

Today in Social Studies our task was to review about what happened in each country Oscar and Nathan visited. We had to watch a film called "Made In Taiwan" about two men finding more about themselves through some DNA results, and sharing it with their parents. Oscar and Nathan had travelled to five different places to share their DNA results with their families and to also talk about their ancestors and where they originated from. They visited Mahia in Aotearoa, Rarotonga, Samoa, Vanuatu & Taiwan.

Food Tech - Katsu Chicken

Today in food tech during the third and fourth period my class and I with Miss Ferguson and Mrs Heka made Katsu Chicken, a known as Panko Chicken a Japanese dish of fried chicken made with bread crumbs and rice with garnish too (optional). Before we started we grabbed an apron and washed our hands, and got into seven groups of two or three. I worked with two other fellow students in my class. First we started with making the Katsu sauce, then moved on to prepping the chicken to be cooked and lastly, we made salad.

Tech @TC - Robotics #2

Today we went to Tamaki College , for technology. Today when we got into class there were tables that were separated for safety reasons.

First thing we did was logging into our computers, and started playing the Binary  game then went on playing the Classic maze   game , were you have to give it set instructions to do what you have asked it to do. This time the coding game was a different compared to the last game one we've done, because it was the angry bird trying to catch the naughty green pig. We had to complete all twenty levels, and I've completed all of it. Then we ended the class off with two quizizz games, about naming the logo.

Tech Online Class - TC - Robotics #1

Today we had tech, but this time it was different. We had tech online, and I was in robotics with Mr. Krishna. To be honest the work we did was very easy. At first we started playing this Binary Game ; to play this game all you have to do it add the numbers up and add then put the answer in the box to the right, or you write the total in the box.

The next thing we did was a quizizz game. It was questions about robotics. Then we played a coding game called ; Minecraft Voyage Aquatic, where we made the code for the character to get to its destination, then took screenshots of the code and the picture at the end when you finished it. Then place the screenshots of the game onto a slide, for Mr.Krishna to see our progress, whether it was easy for us or not. Finally we finished our class , thanked mr. and off we went , finishing off our work.

I'd say that robotics is very interesting due to you coding thing to make an object or character move place to place.
