Being safe with Vector

Power safety

After morning tea we went in the hall to listen to a talk by Ester from Vector energy. I know you are wondering what is Vetor energy. Well Vector is a compone that supplies power to home in New Zealand. It helps with the power. When we were there she told us she worked for Vector. She was talking to us about power safety. After she finished talking to us about is she gave us a vector pencil and a stay safe around electricity vector book.

We have the books and my teacher said " Make sure you finish page 19 at home " which was a list of a home safety inspection. This one is page 19, I finished filling it in and here is my results:
I also completed the Test your knowledge one and this is page 18, here it is :
It has 7 questions in it, its pretty simple to do. That little robot guy next to him is saying " If you get stuck, ask an adult to help"!

Here is some transformers and no, its not like the movie transformers, it is something that drops the power from very high to very low for home use. Page 8 tittle is Take care around transformers. It shows us how to be safe around transformers, here is 4 of them:
Service pillars connect costumers to the underground cables in the street. This is what they look like.

Auckand Zoo

On Monday GlenInnes went to the Auckland Zoo. DSC_0051.JPG
Yesterday morning years four, five and six went to the zoo to look at the amazing animals. We all started walking towards the bus, while we were walking the grass was muddy.

DSC_0073.JPGDSC_0056.JPGWhen we were all inside the bus, we all sat down on the seats waiting to get there. When we got there we all went into the zoo entrance. When we entered we saw three zoo educators, there was one girl and two boys their names were John, Frazer and Kirsty. John and Frazer are twin brothers John said that “ Everybody always gets their names wrong because they can’t tell which is which “ then Frazer said “ The more quiet you are the more animals you see “. After what Frazer said there was a peacock  talking we had morning tea. We were eating in the front of the wall. After we aet we all got split into groups, there was four groups  with one or two teachers to help. DSC_0077.JPG

Our first zoo helper was Kirsty, she took us to see the tuataras. When we got there she said that “ Most of them a camera flagged into their habitat. When we were walking towards the door Kirsty said “ Make sure you close the door before we open another” so we did. She said that because the animals we see might go out and the next thing you know is that everyone is screaming. DSC_0124.JPG

One of the animals that we saw was a Kea, a Kea is a type of bird that is brownish. The biggest one is more likely the boss. The other Keas are like the slaves, they get the food and chew it and swallow it.

We saw the Blue ducks, it doesn’t mean if it’s named Blue duck it’s the colour of it. Here is a photo that has information on it about the Blue duck you may not see it properly. Here is a picture of the Blue duck, it’s not a real one it’s made out of cardboard.

DSC_0202.JPGScreenshot 2017-08-09 at 12.11.25.pngWe saw the lions we got there and we saw only females. When we were there we saw a rope hanging of the tree. We saw a lion eating a massive bone, because one of the zookeepers put the bone there for the lion to eat. When you are there, there a Meerkats at the back of you. When you're at the Meerkats there is a tunnel you can go under and it gives you a better view of the Meerkats. At the back of you there is a old school and toilets, there is also a old motorbike and cycle.

After we finished looking at the amazing animals we took a photo infront of the tintd elephant:

I had a very good and exciting day at the Auckland Zoo looking at the amzing animals that are so beautiful.
